One of the great things about living with your oldschool mates is your usually into the same kind of things.
Case in point; Mike Dee brought home a magazine called “Lay Out” which is a co-op piece between the energy drink company Red Bull and The great Wellington produced Magazine Manual.
Manual Magazine – Glossy
The idea is pretty simple, with of budget of $3500 each, Six teams, of six members from across the country have 14 days to produce 14 pages (7 2 page spreads) and video’s, there are no boundaries for the event, the final product will tell a story of each teams two week in a mixed medium (Skate DVD a Mag)
LayOut Magazine – Well worth the money, in every aspect.
I have to say, I’m thoroughly impressed, particularly with the Naki and Napier Teams layout’s in the magazine, the Tarinaki boys going for a very suave black and white, clean layout, and the Napier Crew pulling out a very very cool retro style with some killer shots (not all about the skateboarding either)
Once again Tarinaki done something amazing with there video a great music selection, fun footage (scooter pull pwns) and some nifty after effects make for one of the free DVD’s finest chunks, The other enjoyable watch has to have come from the Wellington crew, with a truly ecliptic mixture of sounds, which fits perfectly with the shredding you get to view, the last act begins with Bennet (who I consider to the the MVP in this section of the DVD) grinds to tail manual on a perfect wellington day, with Ladyhawke’s “Back of the van” starting up is almost nostalgic for anyone who’s left the city on a trip and come home, the only thing I don’t love about the Welly Crews section is the fact that they where in Hamilton for so much of it 😀
In anycase, I suggest you go out and purchase this magazine, its well worth the money, and a must have for any-ones library, great photography, layout, the bulk of the writing is very good the DVD makes it great value at $8:95 from most skateshops, and good magazine stores.
The hell?! Lack of bloggage Ta 😦

I’ll probibly post something emo about how valentines day is a crock of shit
Valentines is not a crock of shit…… Shorty is lonely
Yeah it really is – but valentines day to some people is what xmas is to kids. Deep down you know its a crock, but it gives you something to look forward to. Even if it is misguided *sigh*
