A band that I really got into during the transition period between living in my parents garage at the end of my 7th form year and my first flat was the Mars Volta, mainly because at that point I was getting into any band that I considered weird at the time,Poison The Well, Glassjaw, DFA 1979…
Listening to the Mars Volta, eventually lead me up the road of the mother band At The Drive In (I say mother band because it was to become so many great projects and influence so many) who in alot of ways were even more quirky then the Mars Volta, and in my opinion cooler.

I picked up Relationship of Command, upon being orderd to listen to it by a good friend Benny and fell in love with 2 tracks in particular, Arcarsenal, and One Armed Scissor, though in reality I ended up addicted to the entire sound, the start of Catacombs, the chorus in Invalid Litter Dept. the entire song Enfilade.
At the drive in really solidified the point that you shouldn’t always only listen to new music, there is piles and piles of great stuff to be found in the past, no matter how recent that past was.
yes, atd-i seriously rock. my favorite track is “cosmonaut”, although “arcarsenal” is fast becoming a favorite too.
