July 2006

Go buy it, go but it now!

It was one of the best album to come out last year, on the planet, they rock live, it has
Today Tonight Tomorrow
Published July 28, 2006 Alchahol , Blog , Music , Style , Toast-Men , Weather , Wellington , del.icio.us 6 CommentsFriday Morning was spent at Rawiri’s place, enjoying the last few hours of his birthday drinking Grants whiskey, watching Dogma (still a bloody cult classic, as are all Kevin Smith movies) and then rocking down to the pub until closing time, needless to say, when I got up today, I was feeling seedy, say hello to Rob Janes, who decided to burst into my cave of a room (Caves are soothing when your head feels like its going to implode) screaming ‘its beer’o'clock’ and yes, it was beer’o'clock indeed. Weta Are Fanboys!
Published July 27, 2006 Art , Internet , Movies , Video Games , del.icio.us Leave a CommentHey guys a really interesting post popped up over at NZGamer.com’s forums, about a certain Wellington Landmark.
The ‘TriPod’ (I threw a few images of it up on flickR at the end of our infamous Rotorua Roadtrip, after dropping Ray-chickka chan chan off home)
For those of you who dont know what im on about, read on…
I don’t know how many of you guys have seen ‘Tripod’ down the end of Courtney Pl, Wellington, but even if you have, have you noticed the special features on it?
There he is. Looks pretty menacing, doesn’t he?
Tripod’ was created by Weta to celebrate the Wellington film industry.
As requested by the author Im only going to leave this little teaser, your going to have to go here to see in detail something I think is pretty damn cool.

New Black Seeds album ‘Into the dojo’ has hit, and theyre doing a New Zealand tour, before once again heading over to europe, its sounding good so far, something ill have to pick up when I next come across a decent chunk of moolah.
Check them out, theyre another great Wellington dub band.
New “Hi my name is mark” podcast is up, and its a good one, including interveiws with warped tour bands (including Anti Flag)
So on flickR a while back I threw an idea up, about msn Live messenger being transperant, that way you wouldn’t need backgrounds (which take up even more space on the bloated IM) Today that dream was partially realised, with Mr Windows X’s vista pack.
its a sexy sexy gui, let’s touch it! you can get this theme (which is simple to install) from here
Ive been slowly taking down posters around my room, to give it a somewhat more grown up theme, on top of this, Ive been mounting and hanging some of my friends art.
This is a Co-Op of sorts between my mate Rob and I, Rob created the stencil off a photo he found on the net in our 7th form year, and its something Ive always hung onto knowing I wanted to play with it, So I cut it up!, along with some black and white images (and I’m sneaking some colour images that sit nicely with the whole monochrome look in there too) mounted them on some off cuts of mounting card and stuck them up, its fun too because you can mix and match everything

Ive also recently aquired a batch of oldschool ubuntu discs and other such open sorce software (open office 2004 etc etc) which ill hold onto just for the hell of it, Im not oiverly interested in using these disks as ive sent away for a batch of new Ubuntu and Kubuntu discs, though I may play around with the live CD
So, Today I dugg around a bit, and found some mounting card from my days at tec, and got around to mounting the Print received yesterday, and hanging it up, its given my room a somewhat more grown up look (for the most part) which I’m loving, I think ill mount everything I want to hang in this fashion.

So that’s all looking great now, and hanging up, I also mounted my favourite skateboarding pic (of Eric Koston nailing a 10 set) and plan on doing something slightly artistic with some offcuts in the near future.
The only other things to blog today are, the fact I’m re-watching Arrested Development with glee, and Amy’s SUV has become THE ONLY one in Wellington with mud on it, im so proud, we have the one person who actually uses the vehicle how it was meant to be used living with us.

Oh last but not least, I haven’t really want to write anything about this because Id much rather keep it private (for now) but my grandmother has given the family a scare, and most of my relatives have rushed north, I haven’t seen either of my grandparents in years, and I’m understandably really worried, The only news I heard today was good though, so hopefully things are looking up.
So, Sara felt the urge to spend more money, she really outdid herself this time though, one of the first things I ever favourited on deviantART was a piece of work by ‘jasinski who paints some brilliant emotive pieces, his website can be found here, It was from a series of images he was focusing on ‘the personal universe one may have when listening to music that moves us.’ in anycase, Sara spent money on a print of the piece of work in question, so now I can talk about the quality of deviantART Inc.’s print service.

I apologise for the quality of some of the images in advance, something is up with my camera, ill try get on top of this wee problem soon, here is a rather dark photo of the tubing the print comes in, it was more or less an excuse for me to throw in deviantART’s address mwahahahahaahaahaahaaaaaaaa.

This image, is supposed to show the print wrapped up in a plastic poster bag, also that the picture is printed on Fujifilm – Fujicolor Crystal Archive gloss paper, the prints name is also on the back.

An extra length of photographic paper is rolled up inside the print, it includes a nifty bar-code, the deviantart symbol (and the little dA mascot / dude) and a thumbnail of the image, a note stating that your order was personally inspected and packaged by INSPECTOR :insert number here: mine was 77, so if your casually on the intergeek, and you just so happen to be Inspector 77 as deviantART Inc. keep up the good work, you deserve some kind of raise.

And here goes the very same piece by ‘jasinski I faced all that time ago, you can view the actual deviation here, I’m going to say it looks like the colour is a little bit off, but A) Im a jerk faced perfectionist when it comes to printing, and B) I’m not entirely sure if that’s the case, the lighting in my photo could be off, the print is now safely rolled up once again, until I can be bothered / afford a nice frame for it, maybe Rob could ask his uncle if he could hook a brudda up.
